2009 Annual Conference Hits Record Attendance SECOND Year in a row!!
The 2009 Annual Conference was held December 4-5 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Bellevue, Washington USA. Dr. Fred Govier and his 2009 Planning Committee coordinated one of the most successful NWUS meetings in the history of the society marked by record attendance and high ratings expressed through the audience response system and attendee exit interviews.
The list of speakers was headlined by the keynote speaker, Dr. Raymond Rackley, Professor of Surgery from the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine and is renowned for his expertise in pelvic health and reconstructive surgery. He delivered three informative lectures addressing practical issues in incontinence, interstitial cystitis/pelvic pain, and pelvic anatomy.
Dr. David Penson, Professor and Director of the Center for Surgical Quality and Outcomes Research at Vanderbilt University was a guest speaker addressing socioeconomic issues in the Health Policy session followed by how these issues affect prostate cancer care in the scientific session.
The two State-of-the-Art lectures were presented by national experts who also reside in the Pacific Northwest region. First, Dr. Hunter Wessells, Professor and Chairman of the Department of Urology at the University of Washington shared his valuable experience and techniques in the management of genitourinary trauma. Next was a State-of-the-Art lecture presented by Dr. Chris Amling, Professor and Chief of the Division of Urology at Oregon Health and Sciences University. Dr. Amling presented his perspectives on optimizing outcomes after radical prostatectomy.
